Honey is a very special product. This past season, the 2010 bloom crop, was another tough one for Orange Blossom Honey. A long, cold winter (by Florida standards) delayed the orange blossoms. When the trees did bloom, they were out for only a couple of weeks, before the start of a rainy period. With the rain, the honey bees packed up and returned to their hives. This caused a second consecutive year of shortage for Orange Blossom Honey.
Quantities of natural products, like Orange Blossom Honey, vary with the seasonal conditions. The current shortage has caused an increase in the price of honey. Kermit's buys straight from an established Florida beekeeper and has stocked up on Orange Blossom Honey, so we should have plenty. However, if we run out, we will not be able to get more Orange Blossom Honey until after the 2011 bloom, in about May of 2011.
